Ukrainian Museum Publications Added to the Collections of Leading UK Libraries and Cultural Institutions

The Hrystia Hranovska Foundation, in partnership with the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, has launched an initiative to distribute Ukrainian museum publications to leading academic and cultural institutions across the United Kingdom.

The initiative grew out of the Foundation’s ongoing collaboration with the National Museum of the History of Ukraine. While working on projects focused on history and cultural memory, members of the Foundation’s team regularly visited major museum exhibitions and research initiatives. During one of these visits, the idea emerged to make Ukrainian museum publications accessible to the international academic and museum community.

The collection donated to British institutions includes four publications prepared by researchers at the National Museum of the History of Ukraine:

Treasures of Crimea. Return — explores the history of Crimean museum collections and the ongoing efforts to protect Ukraine’s cultural heritage during the occupation of Crimea.
60 Masterpieces in the Treasury of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine — presents some of the museum’s most valuable artifacts.
The Mysterious World of the Pectoral — examines the history and symbolism of the famous Scythian golden pectoral.
MIRAS. Heritage — explores the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Crimean Tatar people.

These publications are now available in the collections of some of the United Kingdom’s leading institutions, including the British Library, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford, the Cambridge University Library, the UCL Institute of Archaeology, SOAS University of London, and the Ukrainian Institute London.

The Foundation emphasizes that this initiative marks the beginning of a long-term effort to increase the international visibility of Ukraine’s history and cultural heritage in leading academic and cultural institutions around the world.

“Our goal is to ensure that knowledge about Ukraine—its history, artifacts, and cultural heritage—is represented wherever the world’s academic and cultural perspectives are shaped,” the Hrystia Hranovska Foundation noted.
